Problem Type:
- I am stuck in 'Waiting for email response...', What can I do?Do you have an email subscription on your Blackberry? In other words, do you have email package from your carrier which enables emails to be pushed on your Blackberry? If you do have that & are still not able to proceed further, submit a ticket here with relevant details.
Please note that the updated application (1.1.2 onwards) will allow you to specify the email you wish to use for login purposes. We recommend you to get that if you haven't already. - I have installed the application. However I am stuck on the logo/picture screen. It doesn't move forward. What can I do?Exit the application. Ensure that you have given all the permissions to the application and launch it again. If you have email subscription on your blackberry device, the login process will automatically proceed further. If not, it will ask you to enter an email address for the login process. Once you login, calls can be placed via WiFi or data network.
- How to resolve the Signup Issues? Please note that Yahoo/Rocketmail based signups must not be receiving email responses as Yahoo is not delivering our response emails. It is adviced to users to not use Yahoo/Rocketmail emails to signup as despite of our repeated request to Yahoo, they continue not to co-operate and deliver our emails.
- I see "Error starting tringme: Class net.rim.blackberry.api.homescreen.HomeScreen not found" issue when I run TringMe application. What can I do?This error typically comes when one runs a software designed for different Blackberry OS version. Its likely that you have installed the TringMe application by clicking on a link that was sent to you. So, for e.g., we recently found that some of the users have twitted or circulated 5.0 version link and people have directly installed from that link even if they were not running 5.0 on their Blackberry resulting in this problem.
The best solution for you is to uninstall the current application, restart and visit http://bb.tringme.com or http://tmmv.info from your blackberry and follow the instructions from thereon to download and install. - Whenever I try to place a WiFi call, my phone reboots. What can I do?Disable the High Quality mode in the Options screen of the TringMe application. Retry WiFi call and let us know if you are still facing problems . If so, do include your device model, OS version, carrier/cellular-provider details and submit a ticket here for us to investigate further.
- How to make and receive free calls? To use free WiFi-to-WiFi or 3G calling, you MUST be using our latest version (1.1.x) and should be connected to WiFi or 3G. You will see a green dot on the top right corner if you are ready to receive calls using the application. If you see a red dot, that means you aren't ready to receive incoming calls which generally happens if the network connectivity is lost.
Please note that you MUST be on WiFi or 3G to make free calls and your friends must be using the TringMe application and must be on WiFi/3G.
Your incoming number (876xxxxxx) can be viewed from the Options screen (go to menu and click on Options). When your friend or family dials this number using TringMe application, you will get an incoming call on the application and then you can talk FREE.
You do not need any credits to make a free call. You will need credits only if you are dialing someone who is not using this application or not on WiFi/3G. TringMe application will indicate whether it's a free or paid call.
Do let us know if you need further assistance. - How do I make sure that I am not charged for FREE WiFi/3G calls? If you call 876xxxxxxx number, you will never be charged. However if you are calling on TringMe user's customized number (i.e. non 876xxxxxxx) and if the user is not online, we will automatically make a regular call and you will be charged. If you never want to be charged, always dial 876xxxxxxx number.
- How do I know whether the WiFi/3G call is a free call or a paid call?During the call setup, you will see a paid call or free call indication on the screen.
- My mobile screen shows a 3G network, but I still cannot make a call using TringMe, what is the reason? If your phone shows a 3G network, but still the red dot has not turned green, then you need to check the following.
* Is your Blackberry a 3G-capable device?
* Does your service provider provide 3G data plans for Blackberry phones?
* Do you have a 3G data plan subscription from your service provider?
If your answer is yes to all the above questions, then can you please share with us some details of the 3G data plans offered by your service provider so that we can further investigate this issue and get to the root of the problem to find a solution. - My friend/family and I, both have the green dot in our phones, but when we try calling each other the call is not free, it is charged. Why is this happening?* Check if you have dialed the TringMe number (876xxxxxxx) allocated to your family/friend to contact him/her. If the other person is calling you, he/she should dial your TringMe number allocated to you.
* If you are able to successfully make the free call, then during the call setup, you will see a free call indication on the screen.
* If you want to make or receive free calls using the TringMe application with your regular phone number, you should set (customize) it as a TringMe phone number.
* To set your phone number as a TringMe phone number, go to the Options screen, click on the "Change" button in "Your TringMe Number(s)" section and follow the instructions.
* You can recommend your family/friends do the same to set their TringMe phone numbers. Once they do that you can call them on that number as, if they are online it will be a free call, again as displayed during the call setup screen.
* During the call setup if you see a paid call indication on the screen, it means that you are online, but your Blackberry TringMe contact (whom you want to make a call using their customized TringMe number) is offline, and hence you will be charged. - When I try to call out from Blackberry I get error "Failed-DEVRESTRE E001". What does that mean?Change the High Quality mode setting in the Options screen of the TringMe application, retry WiFi call, and let us know if you are still facing the issue. If so, do include your device model, OS version, carrier details so that we can investigate. Submit ticket here. Also, note that we have reports of issues wherein some operators (especially CDMA) may have disabled some device features which is resulting in this error. We are working on fixes and workaround for this and will keep you updated.
- When I try to call out from Blackberry I get error "Failed-DEVRESTRE E012". What does that mean? Are you on a CDMA network? We have reports of issues wherein some operators (especially CDMA) may have disabled some device features which is resulting in this error. We are working on fixes and workaround for this and will keep you updated.
- I am not able to set Caller-ID? I am not getting a Verification code, what can I do?How are you trying to set the caller-id?
Make sure that you have sufficient balance credits since setting a caller-id requires us to place a call to you which requires funds in your account. If your complimentary credits are exhausted, you can recharge directly from the application by clicking on "Recharge" menu item.
Make sure you are using the TringMe application to set the caller-id by visiting the Options screen. You should specify the phone number which you want to set as your caller id.
For setting up your caller id from your Blackberry go into "Option">"Phone Number">"Change". The number you specify as the caller-id will be called back by TringMe and a verification code will be spoken which should then be entered in the Verify Caller-Id screen. - Call isn't going through. What can I do?Check the balance credits you have by invoking "Current Balance" from the TringMe application's menu. If you do not have sufficient balance, calls cannot be placed. If you have sufficient balance, ensure that you have email or internet connectivity so that the call request can be invoked. If your calls still aren't going through, let us know the steps you took to invoke the call, the number you are placing the call to and the error message you get.
- Problems in dialing a number ?Ensure that you dial fully prefixed number. i.e. even to dial in South Africa, it should be +27xxxxx. Give it a try and let us know if you are having problems. TringMe's application automatically prefixes the country code where required, but you can try my suggestion above and let us know if problem persists.
- I want to make SIP based call via my Blackberry application, What can I do?SIP based calling is currently not enabled via our Blackberry application. As you may know, accounts maintained for Blackberry and Web Portal are different. You must have most likely set up SIP settings in the web portal and that can be used from the web-portal only.
- There is one way call connectivity. i.e. Either only I am hearing the voice or the other party, but not both. What can I do?We are having one way connectivity issues in 9520, 9550 & 9650 devices. This issue is very specific to these devices and we are investigating the issue and this information will be updated as soon as we have fixes. If you are facing this issue on any other device, please send us more information about it by submitting the form below.
- How does Callback call work?In a callback based call, as mentioned in the Blackberry Help of our application, in case of Callback, the system has to schedule 2 call-legs (one call-leg is from the system to your callback number and the other call-leg is from system to the destination party). Please make sure that the callback number you have specified in the Options screen is correct.
- What are the charges if I use callback? In case of callback, since TringMe has to schedule 2 call-legs (one call-leg is from the system to you and the other call-leg is from system to the destination party), both the call-legs are charged.
